A part is an intelligent definition used to describe the item to which it is applied. Parts can be applied to any form, solid, or drawing element. The part definition includes a name, a description (construction type, wall, slab, roof, furniture), the material (brick, glass, concrete), the attributes (level, color, weight), patterning properties, dimensioning attributes, and component information (formula for cost specifications and reporting).

Part information is stored in the part definition and this information adds intelligence to the 3D model. A part can be assigned or changed at any time. Parts can be grouped together to create compound parts. They provide a links between 3D model objects and extracted drawing and report documents.
